Manager

TRUST has been set up to promote equality and opportunity, community cohesion and racial harmony between people of different racial groups to eliminate unlawful discrimination in Thurrock. The Manager of TRUST leads this independent voluntary organisation. S/he will be expected to work with the TRUST board and lead the staff in developing, implementing and monitoring a work programme, which meets the contractual expectation of funders and achieves improvements in racial equality in Thurrock.

  • Promote the aims of TRUST to ethnic minority communities in Thurrock and work with service providers in all sectors to address racism be it institutionalised, direct or indirect.
  • Develop TRUST and an effective force against racism in Thurrock by involving ethnic minority communities in identifying needs. Working to address these needs through liaison with service providers, project development and networking with regional and national bodies of support.
  • Develop strategies to address racism through training, positive images, and working with the media.
  • Ensure that the organisation performs to a high standard, meets its objectives and ensures the flexibility and effectiveness of the small staff group.

Finance Officer

Ethnic Minority Men’s Community Development Worker
To empower and engage Black and Minority Ethnic voluntary and community groups, organisations and individuals in Thurrock. To strengthen and support Black and Minority Ethnic community groups and organisations. To continue developing the membership and representation of TRUST as an umbrella organisation of Black and Minority Ethnic community groups and organisations. Ethnic Minority Women's Community Development Worker
To work with minority ethnic women in Thurrock, to strengthen and develop and to provide ongoing guidance and support to group members. The post holder carries out activities and programs specially designed as preventative measure to support and encourage women to break this cycle and participate in the society as equal citizens. Equalities Officer
To take on local cases in Thurrock and provide an independent local reference point for victims of racial incidents. This includes providing free impartial information, support and advocacy for victims of racial discrimination, harrassment or violence.  For race related issues please email at eo@thurrock-trust.org.uk 

BME Youth Worker

·          To work consultatively with youth agencies, youth service providers, young people seeking asylum, and local young people in setting up, developing and delivering a Peer Mentoring Project for BME children and young people aged 13-19 years in Thurrock.

·          To assist with developing a ‘tool kit’ for the provision of mentoring services to BME young people, for the wider dissemination to other relevant agencies, locally and nationally.

·          To deliver a project that reflects the needs of children and young BME people in Thurrock in conjunction with other BME community and faith groups.

·          To empower young BME people, both as mentors and mentees, through a variety of youth-based and community-based methods.

·          To respond to personal and social needs of young BME young people by listening, advising and referring them to other existing service providers, as appropriate.   For more information email at youthcdw@thurrock-trust.org.uk

 

 

Community Development Worker (Mental Health) Two positions

To reduce and eliminate ethnic inequalities in mental health service experience and outcome, in order to support Black and Minority Ethnic communities in dealing with mental health by; bridging the gap between western models of care and traditional support structures supporting early intervention and access to Primary Care Services with South East Essex Primary Care Trust and South West Essex Primary Care Trust.
